They will discuss interactive storytelling in virtual reality from both a creative and technological perspective with highlights from their projects: \u201cBullet Train,\u201d \u201cThe Martian VR Experience,\u201d \u201cGone\u201d and \u201cStar Wars\u201d virtual reality content. The discussion will be moderated by Ted Schilowitz, futurist at 20th Century Fox and CinemaVangelist at Barco.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased to provide our attendees with the latest insights from some of the brightest minds and creative talents in the industry today,\u201d said Chris Brown, NAB executive vice president, Conventions and Business Operations. \u201cFrom category-defining virtual reality content to current tentpole films and Oscar-winning cinema productions, this year\u2019s Creative Master Series is going to offer behind-the-scenes access not available anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Creative Master Series will lead off with \u201cCinematography in Space for \u2018A Beautiful Planet\u2019.\u201d The session, produced in partnership with American Cinematographer Magazine, will feature Cinematographer James Neihouse, ASC discussing how he worked with NASA to capture exclusive IMAX footage of Earth from the International Space Station to create a totally unique perspective of our planet.<\/p>\n<p>After the keynote presentation, \u201cAwaken to the Power Behind The Force \u2013 The Making of \u2018Star Wars\u2019,\u201d produced in partnership with the Motion Pictures Sound Editors society (MPSE), will feature Matt Wood, supervising sound editors at Skywalker Sound; Pat Tubach, visual effects supervisor and James Clyne, visual effects art director, both at Industrial Light &#038; Magic. Moderated by Bryan Bishop, senior reporter at The Verge, the panel will offer a glimpse into how the sound and visual effects teams behind \u201cStar Wars: The Force Awakens\u201d collaborated to bring more than 2,100 special-effects shots to life on the big screen.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday, April 19, will begin with \u201cThe Path to the Statues \u2013 \u2018The Big Short\u2019 and \u2018The Revenant\u2019\u201d produced in partnership with American Cinema Editors (ACE). Stephen Mirrione, ACE, editor of \u201cThe Revenant,\u201d and Hank Corwin, ACE, editor of \u201cThe Big Short,\u201d will talk with moderator Norman Hollyn about the art of editing Academy Award-winning films and shine a light on their often invisible contributions.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, the conference will take a comedic turn with \u201cCatnapped! Key and Peele\u2019s \u2018Keanu\u2019,\u201d produced in partnership with International Cinematographers Guild (ICG). The film\u2019s Director, Peter Atencio and Director of Photography, Jas Shelton will go behind the scenes of comedy duo Key and Peele\u2019s cinematic debut, which hits theaters on April 29, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018The Jungle Book\u2019: New Technology Meets Classic Storytelling\u201d will feature Visual Effects Supervisor and two-time Academy Award winner Rob Legato, ASC, DGA, VES, Producer Brigham Taylor, Postproduction Supervisor, Jonas Thaler and DI colorist Mike Sowa, providing insight into how they melded pioneering virtual production techniques with traditional storytelling and craftsmanship. Their innovative system bridged analogue filmmaking with the latest advances in real-time rendering, playback and color correction. The reimagined Disney classic debuts in theaters on April 15, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, \u201c\u2018Deadpool\u2019: Leveraging Technology to Create a Stunning Superhero Film\u201d will host the post-production team behind the surprise smash hit: Vashi Nedomansky , post-production workflow and editorial consultant; Joan Bierman, post supervisor; Jonathan Rothbart, VFX supervisor; and Matt Carson, first assistant editor.
